I’ve always had a passion for hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, ORVs, and just about everything else outdoor-related. I was asked to join the SCI Board last year and jumped at the chance to help protect our outdoor heritage.
I have hunted and fished extensively in North America and ventured as far as Scotland, New Zealand, the Caribbean, and Mexico for adventures. I enjoy talking about hunting and fishing and the challenges we face today. I look forward to serving the members of SCI in the Lansing Chapter and hope to meet you at one of our events.
I enjoy hunting for whitetail and mule deer, elk, bear, moose, and small game. I have traveled the world hunting various species, always looking for my next adventure. My first out-of-state hunt was for upland birds and waterfowl in North Dakota about 25 years ago. I haven’t stopped traveling to hunt and fish since.
Favorite rifle? – Christensen Arms .300 Win Mag. My go-to large game cartridge.
Favorite shotgun? – I have shot a Benelli SBE II or III my entire adult life. 12 gauge. Love that gun. Sporting clays, trap, skeet, upland, small game, turkey, and waterfowl. This gun does it all. I have also shot a PSE bow in the last 25 years (different models).
I’ve hunted in Canada (BC, SK, ON, AB), Scotland, and in the US in AK, MT, WY, ND, IN, SD, AR, NM, CO, and of course Michigan.
Favorite Fishing Destinations? – New Zealand, Canada, the Caribbean, Mexico, and across the US.
What advice do you or would you give to someone new to hunting? – Find a mentor. It can be overwhelming at first. If you can’t find one, join a shooting club, an advocacy group like SCI, or a local sportsmen club. Ask the group about mentorship opportunities within their organizations. Most members will be very helpful in getting started.
